More on Hockley TexasHockley Texas

Established back in 1835 by George Washington Hockley, the community was known for a salt dome and discovered near the town, providing salt and a vibrant industry around the turn-of-the-century. Hockley is only home to about 500 folks, so it's a small little enclave of residential properties, farmland, and acreage, which stretches along Highway six between Waller and Cypress.

Hockley Schools

Hockley is part of the Waller Independent School District and is served by the Waller high school, the Waller junior high, the Wayne C Scholz junior high, and the Roberts Road elementary school. The Rose Hill Christian School was founded first in Hockley in 1989 but is now located in the Rose Hill area.

Hockley is definitely known for its love of the railroad. The Houston and Texas Central arrived in 1857 followed by a post office, cotton gin, stores, saloons, and by the 1920s, the population leveled off and has remained about 500 people, including surrounding hamlets and towns since then.
